About LEWV

The Law Enforcement Wireless Village (LEWV) was started in November, 2009 by Lorne Sawatzky of Computer Projects of Illinois (CPI) and a small group of software engineers based on the vision that Smart Phones could easily change the dynamics of the Law Enforcement industry. Given the budget cuts hitting States and local governments in 2009 and 2010, the idea of a low cost solution based on smart phones became even more appealing as a new business idea and venture. Geoff Engerman joined LEWV in January, 2010 as a Product Manager to further help create the wireless vision. Additional management members joining LEWV consist of Kevin Sawatzky, Steve Sawatzky and Ryan Sawatzky.

Smart phone technology, innovation and timing has also been working in favor of LEWV as a startup company. New smart phones are now running as full fledged computers with processor speeds of 1GHz and operating systems such as Android that provide users with larger phone screens and touch sensitive actions (called gestures). The onslaught of Android phone ‘tablets’ coming out will also be an interesting development as law enforcement officers will have the option of larger screen sizes for their phones.

Combining decades of law enforcement knowledge with decades of mobile application experience has created a team capable of delivering the Wireless Village vision: low cost, high value, reliable phone applications for our law enforcement customers.
